Fewer globies to kick around

From Jurkowitz’s media log at the Phoenix:

The roster of those leaving the newsroom include Travel editor Wendy Fox, pop culture writer Renee Graham, feature writer Jack Thomas, op-ed page editor Nick King, editorial writer Susan Trausch, classical music critic Richard Dyer, New York bureau chief Tatsha Robertson, obit writer Tom Long, theater critic Ed Siegel, business writer Charlie Stein, music writer Steve Morse, sports media writer Bill Griffith, arts writer Maureen Dezell, and op-ed columnist Tom Oliphant.

While no tears at seeing Oliphant leave, how the heck can you have some of those others leave (like Graham, Stein, or Griffith) and still keep employing a bigot like Derrick Jackson?

Just imagine what the revelries must be like over at Wa-wa-wachusett…

The other day I got a brochure from the Nashoba Valley Ski Area.

One of the pages in the brochure was plugging a “ski-and-stay” package. At a Marriot Residence Inn two miles from the “ski area”. For a “ski area” all of 25 miles from Boston. With a max vertical drop of a couple hundred feet or so.

What’s next? A “ski-and-stay” package at a by-the-hour motel a few miles from the Blue Hill Ski Area?

If FEMA had existed during the Revolution

It would probably go something like this…

Imagine FEMA commanding the Battle of Lexington and Concord:

You there, Danvers militia! You haven’t reported to us yet! Stop that firing right now! Take your Minutemen to the Respect Thy Neighbors’ Papist Faith Seminar and await further orders. … Menotomy Minutemen! Where do you think you’re going? Who authorized you to defend that village against Redcoats? It’s not even on the map. It says here “Arlington.” You haven’t even filled out a Sparsely Populated Urban Warfare AQ-207-1 form!!! Get back to the stonewall!
