Nobama, please

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

Hoisted from the Althouse comments:

Obama is the messiah, he cometh with truth.

He taxeth the wealthy and giveth me new programs.

He taketh not my paltry earnings, but giveth me the money earneth by others.

He endeth the war and retreateth from victory.

He speaketh with mine enemies, both great and minor.

He asketh them to forbear and desist.

He taketh the profits of oil companies and keepeth it for the government.

He lowereth the price of gasoline by making it more difficult to drilleth for oil.

He opposeth fracturing the atom to generate electricity, but demandeth that my car be powered by electrons.

He transcendeth race by declaiming his whitheth mother and grandethparents who raiseth him after his blacketh father skeedaddleth back to Africa.

He associateth with radicals and crooks, both blacketh and whiteth, ignoring their color and loveth only their influence and money.

He promiseth anything in the name of vote seeking.

He lieth through his teeth.

If only Beethoven had followed in the footsteps of his teacher…

Tales of Supernatural Law!

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

Damn that Volokh Conspiracy commenter for finding me another webcomic to waste time on.

As a legal geek and mild horror fan, I find Supernatural Law nicely amusing and a fun read. Based on the webcomic, I’ve decided to take a flyer by ordering some of their collections of past physical SL comics.

Capturing Vertigo to a T

Thursday, July 6th, 2006

From a (positive) review of the final issue of Lucifer:

Vertigo have released countless Sandman spin-offs over the years, of which this is just one. The numbers have dwindled recently, but back in the day you couldn’t move for stories featuring a minor character who had three lines of dialogue in Sandman #17, usually discovering the exciting world of lesbianism and tarot. Most of them were, shall we say, less than memorable.

Death to Mary Sue!

Saturday, June 3rd, 2006

If you’ve read any SF or fantasy (or, god forbid, fanfic), you’ve undoubtedly run across Mary Sue, even if you don’t recognize “her”.

Anyhow, here’s a hilarious parody of Sues and the lamers who foist them on us.

Sherman! Set the Way-Back Machine!

A frighteningly time-wasting site where you can look up the TV shows and toys you frittered away your childhood on. You know you can’t resist…

Tamagotchi are back. And they can communicate with each other. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Pennies as call options

Thursday, April 13th, 2006

Tyler Cowen has a neat post about pennies behaving as call options on zinc/copper.
